Blue Monday: Beat The Blues With CBD
12 January 2021Are you struggling with the Blue Monday blues? Well, you’re not the only one, but maybe CBD Oil or a similar CBD supplement is the answer for you. In the heart of winter, as the weather gets worse and the days grow shorter, we decorate our homes with lights and Christmas trees to brighten up the days. But then, January arrives. Sure; it’s a new year and if all is well, you’ll have new things to look out for. Still, January can be a rough landing coming down from the holidays, good food and days off work. That explains why so many people get the blues halfway through the first month of the year. In fact, a special day has been named for this sombre phenomenon: Blue Monday. It’s officially designated as the most depressing day of the year. This year, Blue Monday is on January 18. Don’t be sad though: on Blue Monday, CBD can help you face even this day with confidence, strength, and motivation. Just like it can every other day of the year, in fact…
Blue Monday Is Here, But So Is CBD!
So you’ve got that Christmas tree out of the house, and no dinners planned for the coming weeks. To make things worse, it’s still dark when you get up in the morning, and the grey, cold, wet days just keep coming. January can feel like a big black hole dragging you in. Mondays are particularly tough. Work has restarted without remorse, making you feel the grind more than ever. In the first month of the new year, you’ll be hard-pressed to find anyone jumping out of bed singing and whistling…
That is precisely why Blue Monday was invented in the first place. Initially, it was more of a publicity stunt invented by a travel agency, but that changed when psychologist Cliff Arnal started to support the notion with his research. He even came up with a complicated formula to determine the most depressing day of the whole year. All sorts of factors were measured, including the weather, debts, failed New Year’s resolutions, and personal motivation. As it turned out, the Monday of the last full week in January proves to be the day when the year hist rock bottom. This year, that day is January 18.
Is Blue Monday Real Or Nonsense?
Blue Monday is a hotly debated topic. It has been decried as pseudo-science by some, and as downright nonsense by others. The formula used to pinpoint the date is not taken very seriously by scientists, at least. In response, its ‘inventor’ Arnall claimed that he never meant to make people more depressed by emphasizing how difficult life is on Blue Monday, or on any other day. Instead, he just wanted to motivate and inspire people to stay positive and keep trying to change their lives for the better. These days, the inventor of the concept even campaigns to lessen the impact Blue Monday can have on people as they see the day coming.
Whatever the case, most of us have noticed that somehow, January can be a particularly challenging time to keep up our good spirits. That’s why we wrote this article to help you put Blue Monday into perspective. On top of that, if this really is the toughest part of the year for so many people, it can’t hurt to explore how CBD and other lifestyle decisions could help us cope with the January blues in general.
January, Blue Monday, And CBD
The timing of Blue Monday is in fact hardly surprising. The holidays are over; work is jumpstarted back into life, Christmas decorations are back in the attic, and spingtime still seems a very long way off. Prevalence of depressions is higher in winter at any rate, partly due to a lack of sunlight. Now, actual clinical depression involves at least two consecutive weeks of sad and sombre feelings, accompanied by a lack of interest in the world around you. Still, January can easily trigger sad or depressed feelings, even if they don’t officially qualify as depression. But don’t panic: there are plenty of steps that you can take for yourself to make those feelings go away. Whether it’s Blue Monday or not, you can always rely on CBD supplements as natural means to work on those low moods.
The Influence Of CBD On Your Mood
CBD is a cannabinoid found in hemp plants. Your own body produces its own cannabinoids, called endocannabinoids. They interact with your endocannabinoid system (ECS) to regulate a wide range of important physical processes. However, plant-based phytocannabinoids can give the system some extra support. One of these phytocannabinoids is CBD (cannabidiol).
Our emotional wellbeing is particularly susceptible to the influence of our ECS. Factors like stress or problematic experiences can make life difficult sometimes. All the Blue Monday factors mentioned above can aggravate these effects, making for an emotional ‘perfect storm’ by the end of January. Such factors make it harder for you to bounce back emotionally and physically after adversity strikes. That causes you to feel ill at ease; a sensation that can easily turn into sombre moods and mental ‘lows’. This year makes it all just a little bit worse, to put it mildly. Especially in these days of coronavirus lockdowns and spending weeks indoors without friends to cheer us up, many of us lack their usual new year’s optimism. One way or another, it seems most of us can do with a bit of extra support.
So if you recognise these sombre moods and depressed feelings, you may want to give our CBD Oil or CBD Tablets a try. CBD can support your own endocannabinoid system in restoring your physical and mental balance. It can help you relax in stressful times, boosting your sense of wellbeing and softening the sharp edges of sombre moods. That gives you more room to deal with whatever you find on your path. It can make your outlook on life a little bit brighter. That’s hardly luxury with Blue Monday coming up.
Make It Through Blue Monday With CBD
Blue Monday coming up… So what? You now know that there’s lots of things you can do to make it through, just like any other day. When push comes to shove, it’s just another Monday like any other. CBD is just a way to give yourself more room to stay positive, even if things aren’t going your way – including on January 18.
With the right kind of preparation, you’ll feel better mentally, but that’s just the start. Having to spend less time brooding and worrying, you’ll feel fitter and better able to deal with whatever the day brings. That positive attitude also frees up more motivation for sticking to those New Year’s resolutions. You’ll increase your changes to persist in drinking less, or to finally quit smoking, for instance. Quitting bad habits is often complicated by the compelling thoughts you keep thinking, tempting you to give up and let those resolutions wait until next year. CBD can give you the sense of calm you need to break through these negative thoughts and emotions.
Working Together With Your Body
CBD can be a real source of support in all sorts of ways; whether you’re struggling with depression, or trying to kick bad habits like drinking, smoking, gambling, social media, or overeating. This natural supplement does the job by working together with your body. The body recognises CBD as one of its own substances, which explains the virtual lack of side-effects. Choose CBD to start the year off with all the energy and courage you need. Although these may be the darkest days of the year, spring is coming one step closer every day. Whatever 2021 may bring, you have to power to face it, every day of the year!
Please Note! CBD is no miracle cure for heavy, clinical depression. If you feel you’re no longer in control of your sombre feelings, always consult your doctor. Talking to people around you can help, too.
